About The Ontario Association of Camp Counsellors

Our Mission

To represent, advocate for, and advance the interests of camp counsellors working at overnight (sleepover) and day camps in Ontario. Read more about our objectives here.

Our Team

Our team is entirely volunteer led. We currently have 9 volunteer Board members who have work experience from a diverse cross-section of sleepover and day camps across Ontario including: Not-for-profit camps, For-Profit camps, City-run, Community-run, Traditional, Religious, and Special Needs. Each of our volunteer board members plays an important role in our advocacy work. We welcome the support of camp staff throughout the community and if you'd like to be a part of what we are creating, just let us know!

Our History

The OACC was formed in April 2026. The OACC was formed by Nadia Sapiro, a former camper counsellor and parent and friend of many camp counsellors today. In early 2026, Nadia identified a number of unmet needs and issues impacting today's Camp Counsellors. After reaching out to other actors in the camping space as well as the Ministry of Labour, it became clear that an independent voice by counsellors, for counsellors, was needed.
